Between 2008 and 2014, one of the biggest yacht building developments in Western Europe (more than 50 m long) will be built on RDM West. Plans for RDM East (maritime manufacturing industry, general cargo and project cargo) and are still under development. The restructuring of this district will involve repair of the quays, decontamination, renovation and demolition of existing buildings, new building, etc. If the plans are ready, work should be able to proceed on RDM East in the middle of 2009. For both these districts careful consideration needs to be given to the way in which they are opened up and how form can be given to their relationship with their surroundings.
