The future of RDM West is already pretty well mapped out, with the development of schools, yacht-building and a new public area. The schools will start on the RDM Campus in 2009 and the RDM Innovation Dock will be ready in the middle of 2009. The yacht builders place a great deal of importance on innovation and will provide a continuous stream of trainee posts and apprenticeships for future employees. The developments on RDM West should help speed up developments on the rest of the RDM site. Plans for RDM West and the former old head office (middle strip) are already underway and should be completed in 2014. Plans for the Quarantaine site will be finalised in 2009, the idea being to retain this cultural heritage and promote it as a location for the creative sector. Implementation of the project can begin soon after. Improving and developing the link between the RDM location and the village of Heijplaat will be the subject of further investigation.
